BearRoam Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 3, 2026
BearRoam is a travel guide for Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead, Idyllwild and Mammoth Lakes, available on the web and as an Android app. This policy describes what the app actually does today. Browsing BearRoam does not require an account.
Information we collect
Anonymous usage analytics
When you open a page or tap a link, phone number or source link, we record an event containing the event type, the page path, the destination you were viewing, the link or listing involved, and a random session identifier generated in your browser. This identifier is stored only for the current browser session and is not linked to your name, email or device identifiers. We do not use advertising identifiers, cookies for advertising, or third-party ad or tracking SDKs.
Saved favorites and destination choice
Favorites and your last-used destination are stored only in your own browser or app storage on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers.
Information you choose to send
If you report incorrect information, we receive what you type — the item, your message, the page you were on, and an email address only if you provide one. Providing an email is optional.
Business owner accounts (optional)
If you create a business account to claim a listing, we collect your email address and password through our authentication provider, plus the details you submit with a claim: your name, role, business contact email, optional phone, optional website, and any verification notes. Owners who manage an approved listing may also submit business details such as phone, website, hours, menu and booking links and a description — those business details are intended to appear publicly on the listing after review.
Technical logs
Our hosting and backend providers process standard request information, such as IP address and approximate request metadata, to serve and secure the app.
How we use information
- Show the guide, weather, events and listing content you request.
- Understand which destinations, pages and listings are used, in aggregate.
- Give claimed business owners engagement reports about their own listing.
- Review claims and verify that someone is authorized to manage a listing.
- Check and correct reported inaccuracies, and reply if you left an email.
- Keep the service secure, prevent abuse and enforce rate limits.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your information for advertising or ad targeting.
Sharing and service providers
We share information only with the providers that operate the app:
- Our backend and authentication provider (Supabase, via Lovable Cloud) stores accounts, claims, listing submissions, reports and analytics events.
- Our hosting provider (Lovable) serves the website and app content.
- Stripe is integrated for future paid listing plans. Billing is switched off in the current app, so no payments are processed and no payment data is collected today.
Weather, road and event information is fetched from public sources such as the National Weather Service, Open-Meteo and Caltrans, and from the local sources credited on each page. Those requests come from your device or our servers and contain no account information.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and integrity of the service.
Retention and security
Analytics events, reports, claims and listing submissions are kept while they remain useful for operating and moderating BearRoam. Account records are kept until the account is deleted. Data is stored on managed infrastructure, transmitted over HTTPS, and protected with database access rules so that owners can see only their own claims, submissions and listing metrics.
Your choices and account deletion
Business accounts are optional — the entire guide works without one. You can clear favorites and your stored destination at any time by clearing the app or browser storage.
To delete your BearRoam business account and the claims and listing submissions associated with it, contact us using the details below and we will delete them. Business details already published on a listing may remain as public directory information, but will no longer be attributed to your account.
Children's privacy
BearRoam is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
External links
BearRoam links out to businesses, event organizers, official agencies and source websites, and can open your phone, maps or email app. Those destinations are not controlled by us and have their own privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will update the page and the "last updated" date above. Continued use of BearRoam after an update means you accept the revised policy.
